The Supreme Court on Wednesday served notices on authorities concerned over the removal of the former Managing Director of Nespak Asad I Khan from office and sought replies on March 28 (today). The notices were issued to incumbent MD Nespak Tahir Shamshad, Secretary Establishment Taimoor Azmat and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Ayub Qazi in the matter.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain resumed the hearing on a suo motu case regarding the transfer of the chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on March 16 in violation of principles laid down by the court in the Anita Turab case.
During the proceedings, the bench also heard the matter of a civil servant, Hassan Wasim, who was made an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and observed that the court had decided on November 12 last year that nobody would be made an OSD. Secretary Establishment Taimoor Azmat apprised the bench that as per rules laid down for the appointments and transfers of civil servants, postings and transfers had been made either on the recommendation of the premier or on the requisition of the ministry. Serving a show-cause notice to the Secretary Establishment in response to Hassan Wasim petition, the bench also sought explanation from him and adjourned the case.
