HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks rose in the first minutes of business Friday, following a positive lead from Wall Street, as bargain-buyers stepped in at the end of another painful week for markets.

Hong Kong stocks down at open

The Hang Seng Index added 0.64 percent, or 111.92 points, to 17,484.95.

Mainland Chinese markets were closed for a public holiday.
