ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to form two sub-committees to finalise the budget proposals regarding the agriculture sector.

The prime minister directed this while presiding over a high-level meeting held on the budget proposals regarding the agricultural sector.

The meeting was attended by the federal ministers, relevant high officials as well as farmers related to modern agricultural farming.

The meeting was also informed in detail about the reforms of the prime minister in the last one year, regarding the agricultural sector.

The meeting was told that thanks to the special farmer package of the prime minister, it was not only possible to provide loans to farmers on easy terms, but due to timely fertilizer and quality seeds, the highest production of wheat was possible compared to the last 10 years.

On the instructions of the PM, thanks to the best support prices of wheat, sugarcane and cotton, the farmer became prosperous and the production of future crops is also expected to increase.

The PM was also apprised of the progress on the import of international quality seeds, seeds for animal breeding, activation of agricultural research institutes and implementation of Kisan Package.

The meeting was briefed on the National OilSeed Policy, the focus of which is to provide quality seeds by reducing the dependence on imported edible oil.

The meeting was further informed that modern and automatic seed certification and track and trace system is being applied by the government for the supply of quality seeds.
