KARACHI: The uptrend in gold prices continued on Wednesday as the metal hit record highs on the local market, traders said.

Gold prices scaled up to the historic levels of Rs217000 per tola, up by Rs2500 on the domestic bullion market.

Value of the precious metal for 10 grams also reached the new high of Rs186042, up by Rs2142. On the world market, gold was quoted for $2023 an ounce.

Silver stood firm at the all-time highs of Rs2450 per tola and Rs2100.48 per 10 grams, traders said.
