PESHAWAR: Provincial cabinet here on Tuesday approved a major subsidy of Rs2.5 billion on flour under the Ramazan package. This was revealed by Special Assistant of Chief Minister to Information, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif while briefing media regarding provincial cabinet decisions, held under CM Mahmood Khan in chair here on Tuesday.

Under the Ramazan Package, he said a 20kg flour bag would be available at Rs800 as subsidized rate in the market. For this purpose, he informed 2800 sale points have been set up across the KP. A 10kg subsidized flour bag would also be available at the sale points.

Saif said the provincial cabinet has decided to establish 123 Ramazan Facilitation Centres, 42 mobile utility stores, and 96 Dastarkhawan. Monitoring units have been set up under supervision of deputy commissioners, he added.

About another decision of the provincial cabinet, the SACM said that the approval was given to provide Rs5.5 million Shuhada family of Grade-17, Rs9.9 million of Shuhada family of grade-18 and Grade-19. Under the Shuhada Package, he maintained over Rs10 million to be given to the Shuhada family of grade 20 officers. He said the Chief Minister had directed the equalization of the Shuhada package.

Saif said the provincial cabinet had also given approval of tolling policy for provincial highways. Similarly, he added, it was decided to reopen Mashal Training centres that were set up for elimination of insurgency/extremism in Malakand division.

For this purpose, he informed a supplementary grant of Rs360 million has been approved. In the Mashal training centres, SACM said the training would be given to those people having tendencies of extremism and bringing their improvement in life through reforms.

Similarly, he said the provincial cabinet had given approval of provision of fertilizer conditionally on subsidized rates in the Kharif crop season.

Likewise, the SACM said the KP cabinet also okayed shifting of 3 kanals land to the police department for construction of a police station in Ambar district Mohmand. The cabinet also approved shifting of 8 kanals of land to the police department for construction of a police station in Loyisam Khar, he added.

Saif also informed that the approval was given for provision of lands to the relief department for Rescue-1122 stations in three districts in the province. He said the provincial cabinet also approved the giving tehsil Shaqadar to district status and tehsil Bafa to status of district Manshera.

A supplementary grant of Rs700 million has been approved by the provincial cabinet for Pak-Austria Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology Abbottabad, the SACM informed. He added it was approved to give full status of University of Shangla campus of Swat University “University of Shangla.”

He added that the non-functional building of the technical college adjacent to the University should be shifted to the University of Shangla. Saif said that the provincial cabinet also gave approval for acquisition of 10 kanals in urban areas and 20 kanals in rural areas for establishment of boys and girls commerce colleges.

Similarly, he said the provincial cabinet has given approval of handing over different routes to provincial highways authority.
