KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 174,857 tonnes of cargo comprising 103,171 tonnes of import cargo and 71,686 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 103,171 comprised of 42,528 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 10,371 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 5,294 tonnes of MOP, 7,801 tonnes of Rock Phosphate and 37,177 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 71,686 tonnes comprised of 42,301 tonnes of containerized cargo, 390 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 24,595 tonnes of Clinkers and 4,400 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

Approximately, 7116 containers comprising of 4291 containers import and 2825 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 1165 of 20’s and 457 of 40’s loaded while 02 of 20’s and 75 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1151 of 20’s and 679 of 40’s loaded containers while 896 of 20’s and 443 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

As many as 07 ships namely, Ast Malta, Xin Fang Cheng, MT Karachi, Hyundai Busan, Adventure, Oriental Cosmos and Star Mistral have berth at Karachi Port.

Nearly 08 ships namely, Teera Bhum, Ikan Sewnyur, MT lahore, Leo Paramount, Monika, Ast Malta, Al Mahboobah and Xin Hai Tong 27 have sailed out from Karachi Port on the same day.

Nearly 07 cargoes Oocl Charleston, Ital Unica, Oocl Genoa, Summber Ploeg, Nordmerkur, Brooklands and Captain Haddock were expected to arrive on same time.

PORT QASIM

A total of 11 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them a container ship, ‘Cap Akritas’ left the port on Thursday morning, while four more ships, Star Gaia, Fox, BW Yangtze and Gas Chem Dollart are expected to sail from PIBT, MW-1, FOTCO and EVTL on today in the afternoon.

Cargo volume of 183,356 tonnes, comprising 141,397 tonnes imports cargo and 41,959 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 2,824 Containers (359 TEUs Imports and 2,465 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

There are 23 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them seven ships, Irenes Ray, MOL Courage, MSC Erminai, SSI Glorious, Charisma, Sunshine Express and Tomson Gas carrying Containers, Coal, Gas oil and Petroleum gas are expected to take berths at QICT, PQEPT, PIBT, FOTCO and EVTL respectively on Thursday, 25th November, while another containers ship ‘Express Athens’ is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday, 26th November-2021.
