Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 139,823 tonnes of cargo comprising 103,985 Tones of import cargo and 35,838 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 103,985 comprised of 38,879 tonnes of containerized cargo, 7,500 tonnes of Iron Ore, 2,618 tonnes of Sugar, 54,988 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 35,838 tonnes comprised of 28,046 tonnes of containerized cargo, 4,692 tonnes of Rice and 3,100 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

As many as, 5235 containers comprising of 2544 containers import and 2691 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 843 of 20's and 829 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 21 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 570 of 20's and 446 of 40's loaded containers while 145 of 20's and 542 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Nearly 06 ships, namely Ceylon Breeze, Alpine Persefone, News Hellas, Adventure, Sino Bridge, Sagarjeet have berth at Karachi port.

Some 06 ships namely, MT Queetta, Belisland, Uacc Harmony, Kmtc Delhi, Great 61 and Merry Star have sailed out from Karachi Port.

Nearly, 08 cargoes namely La Boheme, Mol growth, Long Beach trader, Trans Leader, Hai Duong, Sea Ambition, Hyundai Shanghai and Northern Dexterity were expected to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

PQA berths were engaged by12 ships during the last 24 hours, out of them, three ships, Maersk Kensington, MOL Growth and Southern Robin left the port on Thursday morning, while two more ships, General cargo carrier 'Da Dan Xia' and Gas carrier 'Al-Maha' are expected to sail from MW-1 and EVTL on today in the afternoon.

Cargo volume of 181,498 tonnes, comprising 154,196 tonnes imports cargo and 27,302 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 2,212 Containers (806 TEUs Imports and 1,606 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

There are 18 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them five ships, OOCL Washington, Irenes Ray, Kanchanna Naree, Argent Daisy and Gas Lotus carrying Containers, General cargo, LPG and Palm oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-1, EVTL and LCT respectively on Thursday, 11th November -2021.
