KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 89,832 tonnes of cargo comprising 71,720 tonnes of import cargo and 18,112 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 71,720 comprised of 39,928 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 192 tonnes of Bulk Cargo and 31,600 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,112 tonnes comprised of 16,104 tonnes of containerized cargo, 2,008 tonnes of Oil and Liquid Cargo.
As many as 5698 containers comprising of 3771 containers import and 1927 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1113 of 20's and 1292 of 40's loaded while 00 of 20's and 37 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 343 of 20's and 280 of 40's loaded containers while 204 of 20's and 410 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were 04 ships namely MT Karachi, Mol Genesis, California Trader, Bernadette currently at the berth of Karachi Port on Thursday.
Nearly 07 ships namely Xin Los Angeles, Cosco Nagoya, Albatross Trader, Jiu Heng, Star Antares, OOCL Guangzhou and Dm Daegon have sailed out from Karachi Port on 08-07-2021.
Approximately 08 cargos namely, Sofia Express, Aframax Rio, Spring 3, MSC Patnaree, As Sicilia, MSC Jasmine, Castor Leader and Value Smile were expected to arrive on Thursday.
PORT QASIM
A total of ten ships were engaged to PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Coal, Soya bean, Palm Kernel, Steel coil, Furnace oil, Natural gas and Palm oil, out of them, a container vessel 'MSC Alessia' sailed out to sea on Thursday (today) morning, and six more ships, Hellespont Progress, Arcadia, Tan Binh-99, BW Rye, Neutrino and Chemroad Sea are expected to sail from FOTCO, PQEPT, MW-2, FAP, PIBT and LCT on same day in the afternoon.
A cargo volume of 151,859 tonnes, comprising 118,761 tonnes imports cargo and 33,098 tonnes export cargo, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,816 Containers (74 TEUs imports and 1,742 TEUs export), was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
There are twelve ships are currently at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim and waiting for berths, out of them seven ships, Express Athens, Irenes Ray, Gladiator, N-Amathhia, NCC Haiel, Muskie and Al-Daayan carrying Containers, Coal, Soya bean, edible oil, Furnace oil and Natural gas are expected take berths at QICT, PIBT, FAP, LCT, FOTCO and EETL on Thursday (today), 8th July-2021, while a container vessel 'MSC Patnaree III' is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day, and another ship 'Safmarine Ngami' ís due to arrive on Friday, 9th July-2021.
