KARACHI: As part of its continuing commitment towards industrial development in Karachi, K-Electric and the North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry (NKATI) inaugurated a new 11 kV feeder in the North Karachi industrial zone.

The NKATI annually contributes Rs 9 billion in taxes to the national exchequer and is home to textile manufacturing and marble processing units. Products of some of the manufacturing units from the area also earn precious foreign exchange for the country through exports. The newly inaugurated feeder will be completely exempt from load-shed and was installed by K-Electric on the company's expense. Approximately 120 industries in the area as a result will benefit from this addition to KE's distribution network, driving productivity and economic growth in the city.

The new feeder was inaugurated by President of North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry, Faisal Moiz Khan, along with the CEO of K-Electric, Moonis Abdullah Alvi. Senior representatives from both sides were also joined by owners of the small and medium size enterprises of the area.

Appreciating the support and exemplary coordination between the two organizations, President of North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry, Faisal Moiz Khan said, "K-Electric has fulfilled its promise to Karachi's industries and successfully accomplished the goal to exempt industrial zones from load-shed. We are indebted that K-Electric has borne the cost of the new feeder that has been installed and are supporting us in achieving a shared vision for the development of the city. We are hopeful that all trade association will join hands with K-Electric to achieve the shared vision for development of this city to support the country's economy."

CEO of K-Electric, Moonis Abdullah Alvi extended his thanks to the President NKATI and while emphasizing the efforts of both organisations, he said, "We have always aimed to support the industries of Karachi, which are Pakistan's growth engine. Our investment and the inauguration of this feeder is in line with this vision. KE is continuing to invest across its value chain to ensure it can adequately support the influx in industrial, commercial, and residential demand. The company's dedicated teams are also available for industries across Karachi where we continue to develop and deliver plans to take industries and businesses to the next level."-PR
