As the country sees a surge in the coronavirus cases, the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) has issued new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be implemented strictly from Saturday.

The new precautionary measures would be imposed in Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gilgit, Mirpur, Peshawar, Quetta, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Muzzafarabad and Abbottabad. The NCOC said these measures will remain in the cities till January 2021.

According to the new SOPs, anyone not wearing a mask will be fined Rs 100. However, the violator would be given three masks.

Indoor wedding ceremonies have also been banned from November 20th. However outdoor wedding parties will be allowed. The centre has also directed that only 50% of employees at all private and government offices will be allowed to call into work from today. The remaining will have to work from home, the NCOC said.

Meanwhile, as per NCOC measures, Karachi has also issued new SOPs. Making the wearing of mask mandatory at public places, the city said that a fine of up to Rs500 will be imposed in case of violation.

In the last 24 hours, the country reported 1502 new cases and 20 deaths.
