(Karachi) Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Prime Minister’s office, ARY News reported on Monday.

According to details, matters of national security, Afghan peace process, India's ceasefire violations along LoC and regional security matters were discussed in detail. During the meeting, cabinet members and other officials were also present.

Earlier, the army chief and Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI) Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed met parliamentary leaders and discussed administrative affairs of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The top military brass said that the army will continue to help civil administration, whenever it is needed and stressed to keep armed forces away from political matters.

The military leadership has made it clear that it has no role in the country’s political matters and election reforms.

On September 20, the joint opposition parties announced launching an anti-government movement under the banner of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) at an All Parties Conference. The opposition leaders criticized state institutions and accused them of rigging the 2018 elections.

They also blamed the government of suppressing their voice and not providing them a level playing field. The opposition also criticized the judiciary and NAB saying they are being used for political revenge.
