KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 122,910 tonnes of cargo comprising 89,296 tonnes of import cargo and 33,614 tonnes of export cargo including 4,124 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 89,296 tonnes comprised of 38,309 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,767 tonnes of steel scrap; 3,182 tonnes of DAP; 6,202 tonnes of rock phosphate and 36,896 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 33,614 tonnes comprised of 17,132 tonnes of containerised cargo and 16,482 tonnes of clinkers.

As many as 4,124 containers comprising of 2,769 containers of import and 1,355 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 409 of 20's and 1,110 of 40's loaded while 16 of 20's and 62 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 482 of 20's and 268 of 40's loaded containers while 79 of 20's and 129 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Kota Nekad, Memphis, Rdo Fortune, NACC Poros and Chemtrans Adriate carrying containers, chemical and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. Botany Bay, Berlin Express, Kapitan Maslov, Chemroute Sun, MT Karachi, Diamond Express and Mouton carrying containers, oil tankers and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely Berlin Express carrying containers expected to sail on Tuesday while another ship namely MT Karachi carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Wednesday.

There are four vessels viz. Diyala, KMTC Dubai, MT Quetta and Hankuk carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while five more vessels viz. MSC Jessenia, Xin Hong Kong, MSC Hina, Primrose Ace and YM Summit carrying containers and wheat respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 157,846 tonnes comprising of 142,060 tonnes of import cargo and 15,786 tonnes of export cargo including 3,330 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 142,060 tonnes includes 12,100 tonnes of gas oil; 30,551 tonnes of coal; 18,880 tonnes of LNG; 10,500 tonnes of palm oil; 1,730 tonnes of palm kernel; 4,279 tonnes of canola; 15,000 tonnes of chemical and 49,020 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 15,786 tonnes includes 1,536 tonnes of cement and 14,250 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,330 containers comprising of 2,580 containers import and 750 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely Yasa Aysen and Al Daayen carrying coal and LNG respectively sail out to sea on Tuesday morning, while six ships namely MSC Jessenia-R, Diyala, Stove Friend, Valiant Splendor, Chemroad Orchid and UACC Shamiya carrying containers, coal, canola, chemical and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola, chemical, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Diamond Star, Jia Yue, Royal Chiba, Pan Crocus, Emden-IV, Kamari, Ithacki, Chemroad Polris and JBU Opal carrying coal, cement and chemical respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. MSC Chicago, MSC Ludovica, Diamond Star, Royal Chiba, Bacco and Gas Amazon carrying containers, coal, soyabean and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely MSC Chicago and MSC Ludovica carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
