NEPRA approves Rs1.88 increase in tariff under fuel price adjustment

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase of Rs1.88 in tariff per unit under fuel price adjustment for the month of December.

As per details, the power distribution companies'request for a fuel price adjustment for December was heard by Chairman NEPRA.

Chairman NEPRA inquired as to why furnace oil was used more in power generation in December. As per details, furnace oil worth Rs4.9 billion was used in December.

"We had a gas shortage in December," officials told the National Power Control Center. To which Chairman NEPRA said that the consumers have been screaming screams after paying the electricity bills and they are using Rs5 billion furnace oil in a month.

Electricity distribution companies have demanded an increase of Rs2 per unit in the December fuel price adjustment. Meanwhile, NEPRA has approved an increase of Rs1.88 per unit in electricity under the December fuel price adjustment.

NEPRA acknowledged an increase of Rs13.80 billion will be passed on to consumers in December.
