KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 169,128 tonnes of cargo comprising 77,895 tonnes of import cargo and 91,233 tonnes of export cargo including 5,607 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 77,895 tonnes comprised of 37,917 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,361 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 25,617 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 91,233 tonnes comprised of 35,962 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,960 tonnes of general cargo; 47,951 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,360 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,607 containers comprising of 2,692 containers of import and 2,915 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 825 of 20's and 837 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 95 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 826 of 20's and 917 of 40's loaded containers while 127 of 20's and 64 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Berlin Express, Chembulk Virgin Gorda, Korea Chemi, Hafnia Hong Kong and Bernina carrying containers, chemical, mogas and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels carrying containers, oil tanker, cement and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 155,453 tonnes comprising of 133,090 tonnes of import cargo and 22,363 tonnes of export cargo including 1,494 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 133,090 tonnes includes 35,373 tonnes of coal; 28,026 tonnes of LNG; 43,900 tonnes of gasoline; 4,500 tonnes of palm oil; 12,500 tonnes of soyabean; 2,844 tonnes of LPG mix and 5,947 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 22,363 tonnes includes 22,363 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,494 containers comprising of 317 containers import and 1,177 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were three ships namely Tomson Gas, Ploutos and Celsius Miami carrying LPG, gasoline and palm oil respectively sail out to sea on Wednesday afternoon.

A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, gasoline and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eleven vessels viz. Express Rome, MOL Courage, Dona Bibi, Kamila Kosan, Hanfia Arctic, Shalamar, Al-Soor-II, Torm Astrid, Chemroad Lily, Silver London and Bernora carrying containers, soyabean, chemical, gasoline, crude oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. X-Press Guernsey, Top Grace, Al-Soor-II and Bernora carrying containers, coal gasoline and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely X-Press Guernsey and Top Grace carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
