KARACHI: At least 10 more Chikungunya suspected cases were reported in Karachi, taking the number of the reported cases to 4,078 in the city since 1st January 2017.
According to a report issued by Health Department Sindh, a total 4,808 Chikungunya suspected cases have been reported throughout the Sindh province out of them 4,078 from Karachi and 730 from other districts of province.
A total 26 cases have been Chikungunya suspected cases have been reported in Karachi this month so far. No any death was reported from this mosquito-borne disease.
The Chikungunya is transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes and the major symptoms include high fever, joint pain, joint swelling, rash, headache, muscle pain, nausea and fatigue.
The chikungunya is rarely fatal, while the death rate of the disease-affected people is less than one per cent. In 2016, a total 405 Chikungunya suspected cases had been throughout the Karachi.
