ISLAMABAD: A forty member delegation led by President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Sheikh Amir Waheed and Chairman Founder Group Khalid Javed paid a visit to Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) here on Thursday.

Addressing traders and chamber members Sheikh Amir Waheed said that both RCCI and ICCI will join hands in promoting business activities in the region and secure traders rights.

A joint effort and steps will be taken to address key issues faced by traders from government institutes, especially FBR, SECP, IESCO, CDA, finance ministry and district government.

He also congratulated new office bearers of RCCI on assuming office.

RCCI President Zahid Latif Khan said that traders are the backbone of the national economy.

A collective approach, strategy and research will be made to promote business activities on modern line and experiences will be shared. Information will be seek from the relevant government institutes on Special Economic Zones (SEZ) under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and efforts will be made to have an industrial zone set up near twin cities, he added.

He said traders are facing harassment in the name of tax collection and business offices being sealed by FBR authorities.

A joint committee will be constituted to address these issues including sales tax refunds and dual taxation, he further added.

The delegation includes members and former presidents of ICCI and FPCCI.

Senior vice president Nasir Mirza, Vice president Khalid Farooq Qazi, group leaders Sheikh Shabbir, Sohail Altaf, SM Naseem, former presidents and members of the executive committee were also present on the occasion.
