"Women's participation in football is progressing as the time goes on and the extended strength of clubs has pushed us in the position to organise two editions of National Women Club Championship in 2008 and 2009 and the third edition will be played in April 2010.
Pakistan Football Federation's Women Wing, which comprised of only 5 clubs at the end of 2006, now comprises of 32 clubs as several new clubs have registered with the women cell." This was stated by PFF Women Wing's Chairperson Robina Irfan, here on Monday.
Of the latest 15 clubs entering PFF files, 8 belong to Peshawar viz Frontier College Club, Malik Club, Dak Ismail Khel Club, Chamkani Club, Spark Club, Peshawar Club, Charsada Club, United Club, while others are Karachi's Aurora Club, Islamabad's Suzuki Chaudhry Motors Club, Lahore's Model Town Club, Lahore Club, City Club, Quetta's Roshni FC and Quetta Juniors.
Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women's Department Director Belinda Wilson praised the women's cell of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). This year, PFF Women Wing will host third National Women Club Championship coming April at various cities, followed by 6th National Women Championship (25 July -7 August, Islamabad).
