Coffee exports from Mexico rose 9 percent in April to 327,874 60-kg bags, according to the national coffee organisation's website on Friday. Mexico exported 300,804 bags of coffee in April 2008. Cumulative exports for the 2008/09 coffee year, which began in October, were 1,546,285 bags, up 9.6 percent from the same period in the previous cycle.
Mexico harvested 4.2 million 60-kg bags of coffee in the 2007/08 season and sees between 4.5 million and 4.8 million bags of output in the upcoming harvest, helped by lower fertiliser prices and investment in farms.
