The negotiations between European countries and Pakistan government to recruit local manpower have met a dead end owing to law and order situation in the country. Sources in Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) told Business Recorder on Saturday that the government of Pakistan had started negotiations with Italy and France to induct local manpower for their industrial needs.
They said that negotiations in this regard have stopped because the two European countries expressed serious concerns over current condition persisting since Pakistan became allied in global war on terror. Sources said that the Ministry of Labour had constituted a team comprising senior officials from OEC to impress the French and Italian governments to allocate a bigger share to Pakistan in the recruitment of manpower.
They said that the team convinced both governments to recruit manpower from Pakistan, which are available at reasonable emoluments in comparison to other countries. They said that the team had also urged the two countries' governments to diversify their recruitment policies as Pakistanis also demand salaries compared to people having same qualifications and experience from other countries.
These people are required to meet the over-growing industrial needs of the country. This is considered necessary to keep the product cost within reasonable limits and also helps in enhancing exports, officials said. Therefore, both countries had shown interest to induct professionals in the fields of medicine, engineering, education, science, agriculture, manufacturing and shipping from Pakistan, they said.
