KARACHI: Three persons were electrocuted on Thursday night as intermittent rain continued in the metropolis, flooding roads and streets in various areas.

According to an Edhi official, one person was electrocuted in Shah Faisal Colony while two others were killed due to electric shock in Liaquatabad area. The bodies had been shifted to hospitals.

Earlier in the day, in another rain-related incident, two children drowned in accumulated rainwater in an under-construction underpass at Punjab Chowrangi, Gizri. The second rain spell, which began Thursday afternoon, continued to lash the city late into night, and the Met Office forecast more rain for Friday.

Sindh Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro talking to a private TV channel on Thursday night, said efforts were underway to drain out rainwater from roads, as rain emergency is in place in the city.

Some parts of the city faced power outages following the downpour. However, according to a K-Electric spokesman, teams of the power utility were alert to address any faults.
