imageRAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) President Raja Amer Iqbal on Wednesday said trade ties with Central Asian Republics, including Kyrgyzstan, were imperative to boost exports.

"Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Central Asian states can become a new economic zone if connected with China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)," he said while talking to a delegation led by Speaker Kyrgyz Parliament Chynybai Tursunbekov, which called on him here.

Kyrgyz Ambassador Erik Beishembiev and Deputy Foreign Minister Azamat Usenov were included in the delegation, which is on a visit to Pakistan.

The RCCI president said CPEC was a unique opportunity for traders and investors of not only Pakistan and China but also for the entire regional countries, especially the Central Asian states.

He stressed bilateral cooperation in sectors, including pharmaceutical products, marble, rice, sports goods, textile goods and information technology.

Speaker Chynybai Tursunbekov said the purpose of their visit to Pakistan was to promote bilateral parliamentary exchanges, supplement government-to-government interaction and meeting with trade representatives to boost bilateral trade.
