imageIslamabad United defeated Peshawar Zalmi by seven wickets in the first game of Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Thursday. After losing Muhammad Hafeez to Islamabad United pacer Muhammad Irfan on the very first ball, Zalmi's Kamran Akmal led the charge against the defending champions by playing a blistering knock of 88 runs in 47 balls. However, Shahid Afridi once again disappoints Zalmi fans as he didn't do well with the bat as well as ball.

Islamabad United need not to worry to stand in PSL as they gave a clear message to the opponents that they are truly a defending champions of Pakistan Super League. Their incredible bowling spell as well as Shane Watson's fiery batting gave a good start to PSL 2017. On the other hand, under pressure, Zalmi gave away extras and pitched some terrible deliveries.

Shahid Afridi and Junaid Khan were sufficiently punished by Brad Haddin, who seemed to enjoy hitting both bowlers out of the park. A lot was expected from boom boom Afridi as he earlier claimed that Peshawar will settle for nothing less than the title.

Afridi fans immediately took to Twitter to express their disappointment over his poor performance.
