imagePakistan Test cricket skipper, Misbah ul Haq has blasted on cricket fans, after the captain was a part of constant criticism after Pakistan embarrassing losses against the New Zealand and Australia last month.

Misbah accepted the failure of his team, but opined that the amount of criticism by former players, cricket pundits and public is uncalled for.

"We should have performed, but we didnt however that doesnt mean we are not good at all. Even India became Number One while playing in India alone," said Misbah, while talking to reporters on Wednesday.

Pakistan most successful Test skipper said that he decided to retire a year ago but stayed on for the team, while people are now calling him to quit despite Pakistan achievements in the past six years.

"I was considering retirement a year ago but everyone told me to stay for the tours (against New Zealand and Australia), but now, that we have lost, they are telling me that I should leave cricket," said the 42 years old.

Misbah was the leading force behind Pakistan emergence as the Number one Test side for the first time in its cricketing history, last year.

He furthermore stated that it is up to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to appoint anyone as captain of the national team. He added that his successor would go through the same as he did if there is no development at the grassroots level.

"New captain will keep facing troubles if there is no development at the domestic level," he said.

He said that talented players would not emerge as the domestic structure is flawed, and if they do find a way lack of grooming spoils their careers.
