The heirs and victims of Imambargah Ali Raza and Hyderi Mosque bomb blasts tragedies were presented cheques of compensation at a ceremony covered by gloom held at the Governor House here on Saturday.
The heirs of some 48 deceased and 182 injured were presented compensation cheques of Rs 2 lac and Rs 30,000, respectively, by the Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Ejaz ul Haq, Sindh Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Manzoor Panhwar and Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi.
The amount was paid on behalf of Federal Government on the directive of President Pervez Musharraf while Sindh Government had already paid an equal amount to the heirs of deceased and the injured sometime back.
Speaking on the occasion Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan said the government fully shared the agonies and sufferings of victims of terrorism.
In all such cases, he pointed out, the Government acted on twin strategy - firstly to catch the culprits involved and take them to task and secondly to help compensate the victims for their financial losses which they underwent due to death of their bread earners.
He paid glowing tributes to all those who suffered on account of these bomb blasts, and set an unprecedented example by bracing the tragedies with utmost tolerance.
The Governor pointed out such acts of terrorism affected both government and the people. But the terrorists have been encountered with great steadfastness and many of them brought before the justice.
