Three-day promotion campaign was launched here in Shanghai to introduce Pakistani mango in the local market. Consulate General of Pakistan at Shanghai has imported a small quantity of mangoes, which were presented to local government leaders, various trade chambers, commercial organisations and fruit importers.
An introductory free tasting of Pakistani mangoes was organised at the Shanghai's largest shopping centre (Carrefour) located in the centre of city. A large number of Chinese and foreign nationals visited the mango display booth to taste mangoes.
"Free tasting of Pakistani mangoes was also arranged at a posh restaurant located at Nanjing road. Initial response was very encouraging and almost all those, who tried the mangoes, highly appreciated the taste and flavour, saying, "this was the best mango they have ever tasted."
Many customers insisted on buying mangoes without even asking the price. Some foreigners also inquired about importing Pakistani mangoes to their native countries.
The manager of supermarket and the owner of the restaurant both were surprised at the customers' overwhelming response and have decided to import Pakistani mangoes to meet the customers' demand. Many fruit importers have also shown great interest in importing the Pakistani mangoes.
The Consul General also invited members of the local media people and fresh fruit importers at his residence for a party to taste Pakistani mangoes.
