Russia's No 2 mobile phone services provider, Vimpelcom, reported on August 25 second quarter results that surpassed analysts' expectations on all fronts. In a turnaround from disappointing figures of the two previous quarters, Vimpelcom said its second quarter net profit rose to $158.84 million, while 11 analysts polled by Reuters expected it to be $146.7 million on average.
Revenues stood at $769.77 million, compared with $745.9 million predicted by the analysts.
Earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) were $395.55 million, above analysts' average forecast of $367.1 million.
