Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui on Thursday said holding of first phase of local bodies elections in free, fair and transparent manner is a testimony to the best performance of the government. He was talking to people during his visit to various parts of the city to review the security arrangements made in connection with the elections.
Earlier, the minister went to Ibrahim Alibhoy Boys School at Aisha Manzil in Gulberg Town to cast his vote. Rauf Siddiqui was the first to reach this polling station and also the first among the provincial ministers to cast his vote.
Talking to people, the Home Minister said holding of free, fair and transparent elections in a peaceful environment, could become possible due to the co-operation of people, government and law enforcement agencies.
On the election day, he said, the government not only showed all respect to opposition and other political parties and candidates but also provided them security. Before the start of polling, the Home minister paid an early morning visit to various city areas to review the law and order arrangements.
On the occasion, he paid tributes to police and Rangers for maintaining best security arrangements.
