Punjab Health Minister Dr Tahir Ali Javed has said government was extending all out encouragement and patronage to the institutions engaged in public welfare oriented activities like health, education and other social sectors.
He invited private sector to come forward and play its due role to provide standardised healthcare facilities to the people of province living in far-flung areas. The government would provide all out co-operation to the interested institutions for public-private partnership in medical field to provide missing healthcare facilities to the people specially living in remote areas of Southern Punjab.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of a committee constituted by the Chief Minister Punjab for having an in-depth study of the concept of public-private partnership in medical institutions.
Secretary Health Rashida Malik, Secretary Law Shaikh Ahmad Farooq, Professor Dr Mumtaz Hassan, Professor Dr Faisal Masood, Professor Dr Sibt-ul-Husnain, Professor Dr Jawad Sajid Khan, and officials of health and finance departments attended the meeting.
The minister said joint efforts of public and private sectors could go a long way in providing medical facilities and improving healthcare system. He said government would facilitate interested private entrepreneur/ institutions to upgrade training system of para-medics. He said government has provided additional resources for strengthening public healthcare sector, beside medicines, modern equipment and other facilities were being provided in basic health units (BHUs) and rural health centres (RHCs) under a wide-ranging programme.
