The process of re-structuring and modernisation of Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) is continuing and a committee has been formed to enhance the performance of organisation. This was told in a briefing to Federal Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Ghulam Sarwar Khan during his visit to head office of the EOBI here on Saturday.
EOBI Chairman Brigadier Akhtar Zamin (Retd) and other senior officials briefed the minister about working and performance of the institution.
The minister was also informed about the process of computerisation in the EOBI.
Ghulam Sarwar Khan was of the view that computerisation would reduce expenditure and considerably enhance the performance of EOBI.
In addition to this, the employers and the employees would get latest information and that too promptly, about their respective contributions, pensions etc.
The minister urged the elderly and widow pensioners should not face any difficulty in the payment of pension amount.
The officials of the EOBI informed the minister that 450 branches of United Bank were paying the pension amount and the process was going on in a satisfactory manner. Whenever any difficulty was faced, the senior officials of the EOBI took prompt remedial measures.
The minister directed that in the areas where there were no UBL branches, the National Bank officials be approached so that pension should be disbursed through the NBP branches in such areas.
EOBI Chairman assured that in that respect he would contact the higher officials of National Bank.
