The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has launched a campaign to promote "safe driving" among its officers and subordinate staff in Sindh and Balochistan. According to a press release, the inaugural ceremony of the campaign was held at the SSGC head office here on Thursday. SSGC Managing Director Munawar Baseer Ahmed was the chief guest.
During the campaign, which is organised by the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Department in collaboration with National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP), short courses are being arranged to educate the employees and create awareness about safe driving.
SSGC Managing Director Munawar Baseer Ahmed while addressing to the participants of the course announced that the SSGC had received the recommendation for award of ISO-14001 and OHSAS-18001 certificates.
It was the first utility company in Pakistan to have achieved such distinction and it was the major milestone for the company, he added.
He asserted that SSGC employees must also adopt personal safety measures strictly at the work places as laid down by the HSE Manuals.
He said smoking or chewing Paan or Gutka within the premises of the company was already banned, and warned that the employees violating that rule would now be fined Rs 500, which would be reduced from their salaries.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Khursheed Bukhari, NHMP Senior Patrolling Officers Syed Farhan Ahmed and Khalid Qureshi were also present of the occasion. Two officers of the motorway police made presentations about "Safe Driving".
Senior General Manager Syed Hasan Nawab, HSE General Manager Eng. Saleem Khan Sanjarani and, SSGC Safety Officer Nadeem Qureshi also spoke on the occasion. The participants of the course were awarded certificates.-PR
