Directive to keep earthmoving machinery in order

Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Food and Agriculture Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi has directed officials of the agriculture engineering workshop to accelerate the pace of repair and maintenance of heavy earthmoving machinery, particularly bulldozers.
He issued this directive during a surprise visit to the agriculture engineering workshop here on Saturday. He said Sindh needs to improve its crop production capability by extending cultivable land, and as such heavy earthmoving machinery is needed.
He said increase in production of agriculture would not only help in achieving the autarky in food but also improve living conditions of farming community, particularly small growers. He also directed the agriculture engineering director-general to ensure repairs of laser land levellers on priority basis to meet the requirement of growers and to help ensure judicial use of available water resources.
He later inspected bulldozers brought for repairs and also material used for repair. The agriculture engineering director-general informed that at present there are 133 bulldozers of which 59 are operational and rest are under repair. The advisor said unnecessary delay in repair would not be tolerated.
