Provincial Minister for Co-operatives, Colonel Malik Muhammad Anwar (Retd) in a meeting here on Sunday said that with the co-operation of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) a strategy has been evolved for eradication of corruption in housing sector and to curb the activity of land mafia. The minister said the decision to this regard was taken in a meeting on receiving complaints of irregularities in housing sector.
He dilated that work on amendment in Co-operatives Societies Act 1925 and revision of various sections has been completed and it will be presented in the assembly for legislation.
He said after enforcement of this act interests of common man would be safeguarded. He said that it would be compulsory for all the housing societies to construct small houses and flats for the middle class and sell them on affordable rates. The minister said that Rs 6 billion had been distributed among cooperative effected till now.
Anwar disclosed that remaining deposits of National Finance, Paasban and National Credit Finance are being reminded that they should submit their claims up to July 2005 after which no claims about these companies would be entertained.
He said that 100 percent payments have been made to the victims of Pakistan Development, United, Prime, Mercentile and Zimandara Finance Companies. The minister said the process of payment of amounts will be completed by December 2005 after which the chapter will be closed.
