Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) President Zafar Sobani, and Vice-President Asad Ali Shah gave a joint presentation on adoption and implementation of International Accounting Standards (IAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in Safa countries in the World Accounting Summit held in Dubai from May 28 to June 1, 2005.
This mega event was held under the patronage of the United Nation Conference of Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and organised by the Institute of International Research (IIR) Middle East, said a press release of ICAP on Wednesday.
In the four-day summit, 35 speakers from around the globe, including the president and the CEO of International Federation of Accountants (IFCA) presented their views.
The participants of summit appreciated the role of ICAP in adopting and implementing IAS/IFRS.
IFAC President Graham Ward and IFAC CEO Ian Ball appreciated the proactive role played by ICAP in the region and showed keen interest in visiting Pakistan in February 2006.
ICAP President Zafar Sobani and ICAP Vice-President Asad Ali Shah also met the local members of institute based in Dubai and Abu Dhabi separately, and highlighted the recent initiatives taken at the Institute for strengthening of accounting profession in Pakistan.-PR
