Punjab Minister for Law and Local Government, Muhammad Basharat Raja has said that the government has decided in principle to appoint the administrators replacing Nazims at all the District and Tehsil level while corrupt Nazims would be probed. "The administrators would be appointed two months before the holding of local bodies elections, thus replacing the Nazims. Though the government has already launched investigation into the acts of malpractice, financial bunglings and irregularities of the Nazims and the District governments, however, with the appoint the administrators the process would be expedited."
He stated this while talking to this scribe here on Sunday. He said the Local Government and Rural Development Department was engaged in vetting and probing various cases of corruption and irregularities of the district governments and soon it would bring to the culprits to the book and make public some startling revelations.
Raja Basharat said the people would elect in the upcoming local bodies polls to only those candidates who exhibited performance and served the masses with dedication instead of those who flouted and deceived them.
The provincial government in collaboration with the federal government has planned to provide potable water by installing water filter plants at Tehsil union council level, he said. To materialise the objective, more funds would be provided in the next financial budget, he added.
