imageKARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has said that he has directed the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to provide proper security to the newly elected councillors so that they could participate in the election of mayors and chairmen.

This he said while talking to media during his visit to different media houses on Tuesday. He was accompanied by his advisor on Information Mola Bux Chandio.

He said that the election of local bodies mayors, deputy mayors, chairmen and vice chairmen is taking place on Wednesday.

"I have issued necessary directives to the police and rangers to provide necessary security to the councillors so that they can participate in the local bodies elections for mayors and chairmen," he said and added that he was quite optimistic that this process would be completed amicably and peacefully.

Replying to a question he said the mayors and chairmen would have to take oath for their loyalty to Pakistan. This is very loud and clear, he said.

Replying to another question, Syed Murad Ali Shah said that nobody would be allowed to hijack peace of this city. "If anybody dares to do so he would be dealt with iron fists," he said and added "now the government means the chief minister, the police, the rangers, the other law enforcement agencies personnel would be waking at night to provide secure and sound sleep to the people of this city," he vowed.

He said that he wanted to visit the media houses when they were attacked by some terrorists yesterday but his security team suggested him not to visit the houses. "This made me furious and I said if I am, the chief minister of the province, is not secure in my capital city then how my citizens would feel secure," he said and left the CM House and visited the media houses.

He said it was responsibility of the police to provide security to each and every citizen and he would ensure it. "Now nobody would be allowed to torch any vehicle, take gun in his hand and start shuttering down in the markets," he said and added that the honeymoon period of the outlaws was over now.

Replying to another question regarding new political developments in MQM, the chief minister said it was their internal matter. "I respect the mandate of the people of the Karachi," he said.
