Arbab Rasheed Abro, member managing committee of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has suggested that Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) be handed over to a professional management. In a letter to Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, he said that the government must induct new ships in PNSC fleet to improve its cargo handling capacity. He said that the government should also concentrate on port and shipping to improve working of this sector.
He suggested that Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW) be modernised and equipped with latest technology to start building new cargo ships locally. He further suggested that tax net be increased by including new tax-payers to soften tax burden on present tax-payers.
He also suggested establishing coal-fired powder plants in the country to increase power generation capability to meet power shortage as well as increasing power demand.
He pleaded that coal based power plants reduce dependence on imported fuel as well as reduce cost of production of power generation.
