Member National Assembly Zahid Hamid, Senator Mir Mohammad Naseer Mengal, and MNA Riaz Hussain Pirzada separately called on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at the Prime Minister House on Thursday.
They felicitated Shaukat Aziz on assuming the office of the prime minister and reposed full confidence in his leadership, and assured him of their fullest co-operation in implementing his 'vision' for economic development of the country.
They also lauded his commitment to bringing in political stability and economic prosperity.
Talking to the parliamentarians, the prime minister said that a forward looking and progressive Pakistan remains our goal, adding the government is committed to setting up a welfare state, providing good governance to the people and improving their quality of life.
He said the fruits of recent economic development must reach all segments of the society particularly the poor and the down-trodden.
"Special emphasis is being laid on provision of basic necessities of life along with improving and expanding the existing health and education facilities", he added.
Shaukat Aziz said the government is also striving for ensuring justice and fair play along with upholding the principle of merit in all walks of life.
He urged the elected representatives of the people to come forward and supplement the government's efforts for improving the lot of the common man.
The government, he said, expects from them a more vibrant and dynamic role particularly with regard to timely completion of development schemes and projects in their respective constituencies.
