City District Government Lahore (CDGL) Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has revealed the city district government was evolving a strategic plan to ban construction of basements in walled city areas and in that regard new commercialisation policy would be announced.
He was addressing a meeting held to review progress on anti-encroachment campaign here on Thursday, Amer said huge funds were required to revive the dilapidated but historical Havelis/buildings in the walled city for which recommendations would be submitted to the UNESCO representatives in a meeting.
Ravi Town Nazim Amir Munir, District Officer Revenue Malik Muhammad Bakhsh and representatives of police and traders also attended the meeting.
The city government had been striving hard for making the Lahore City as 'Modern City' and executing development works to revive the beauty of city, he added.
The meeting decided to launch a project for development of Azam Cloth Market under the Citizen Community Board for which city district government would provide 80 percent of the funds whereas the traders' community would bear remaining 20 percent cost.
