Former Provincial Minister and Vice-President PML-N, Punjab, Pir Binyamin Rizvi was gunned down along with his gunman and driver by unknown armed assailants near Punjab University new campus hostels on Saturday.
According to details, Pir Binyamin was on his way to home in his car, when two unknown motorcyclists opened firing on his car near new campus hostels, as a result of which Pir Binyamin, his driver Qaim Khan and body guard Nasir died at the spot.
Garden Town police have registered a case against unknown culprits over the complaint of Binyamin's brother Syed Tariq Yaqoob. Tariq Yaqoob in his application to police has held the Punjab government responsible for the murder of his brother.
Namaz-e-Janaza of the slain Binyamin Rizvi will be offered on Sunday (June 27) at Masjid-e-Shuhada at 10 am. Later his body will be taken to his native town, Phalia for burial.
Pir Binyamin Rizvi was first elected MPA in 1993 and later become provincial minister for Social Welfare in 1997. He has left behind two daughters and a son.
Meanwhile, Model Town police termed the killing an incident of target killing.
