Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister on Religious Affairs Allama Tahir Ashrafi on Saturday stressed upon the Ulema to play their active role for the promotion of harmony and tranquillity in the society.
Addressing a meeting of the District Peace Committee at Circuit House here, he condemned the attack on military convoy in Karachi and said that the elements involved in such activities only wanted to meet their personal interests.
He said that such anti-state elements couldn't blackmail the government.
He said that the same group was involved in the attack on President General Pervez Musharraf and in the killing of Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai.
He said that all available resources would be utilised to eliminate the terrorists from the country and to provide security to the people.
He said, the credit goes to Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and District Peace Committees for maintaining law and order in the province.
He directed the District Police Officer to fully co-operate with the members of the peace committees to foil the evil designs of anti-state elements.
