Capital Development Authority (CDA) so far failed to dislodge moveable and immovable encroachments in various sectors of Islamabad which defaced the capital status.
It is pertinent to note that recent cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali strictly asked CDA to remove all kinds of encroachments in the capital and take stern action against the violators and land grabbers.
The encroachments at different markets including Aabpara, Melody, Supper, G-8 Markaz, G-9 Markaz, F-10 Markaz, different I and T centres, is a challenge for CDA.
Encroachment by the shopkeepers, car dealers, car mechanics, furniture makers, auto parts vendors is a big problem in G-8 Markaz where the encroaches control prevailed.
More than 51 car dealers occupied CDA land and using the open areas, footpaths and service road and streets for parking the vehicles for sales.
Mushroom growth of car mechanics, denter and painters in the Markaz also a source of noise pollution and creating problems for the inmate of the sector, but it is CDA slackness which had not taken any action against these law violators.
"There is no law to check mechanics, painters, furniture makers and wood cutters time table for business who even not spare night and continue their work without any fear," said Fahad Daud while talking to APP.
The continuous hammer work, by the denter, drill machine use by the furniture makers, wood cutter machines and the mechanic work make noise in the late night, which is a constant torture for the families living in this areas.
Encroachment by the shopkeepers, vendors, fast food and restaurant holders in Aabpara market, not only creating fuss but some time irritate buyers mostly women, children and foreigners who find it difficult even to walk in the market.
CDA District Municipal Administration office which is responsible for checking encroachment in the market is itself involved to allow the encroaches to operate freely, complained a government employee Jamil.
Watch, socks, hosiery item sellers, snack bars, open tundoor on the footpath pakora, chips, samosa, poultry, cobblers, burger points and dozens of other vendors and shopkeepers have not only defaced the market but turned it into fish market.
DMA office knows about 21 shopkeeper who had occupied CDA land mostly footpaths and erected concrete shops which is creating lot of inconvenience for the consumers.
CDA neither touched the shopkeepers encroachment nor they noticed it rather take eye wash action against the vendors said vender association chairman Idrees.
It is indeed a challenge for DMA to check grocery shops, stores, fruit, vegetable, pan shops, fast foods, haleem ghar, hosiery, sanitary and electronics appliances shops who have occupied the streets and footpaths remarked Tariq Khan a teacher.
CDA staff also failed to take any action against the encroaches who had occupied G-8 green area. Eight persons had occupied G-8 green belt area and made these places as sale point of building material.
