Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain has hailed the readmission of Pakistan to the Commonwealth and said decision is the acknowledgement of proper functioning of democratic institutions.
Talking to Business Recorder at civil rest house on Sunday here he added that Commonwealth membership of Pakistan has been restored after five years and re-entry of Pakistan will surely strengthen the Commonwealth.
Pakistan will play its key role in developing cordial relationship and understanding with the member countries, he said.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain strongly condemned the negative attitude of some forces that were opposing the readmission of Pakistan in Commonwealth and for this they were pressurising Commonwealth and consequently failed in their ulterior motives.
The anti-state activities of such elements are highly condemn-able and people would not tolerate such anti-state activities, he said.
The Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain said that masses had become politically very conscious and will allow any body to play with national interests of the Country just for their personal gains.
It is very strange that Indian government was stressing the Commonwealth for restoration of membership of Pakistan but it was very unfortunate that some political forces at home were opposing he said.
The Speaker National Assembly called upon such political forces that they should refrain for indulging in anti-state politics, which was detrimental for the national interests.
It is our uppermost and national responsibility that we should collectively protect the national cause and interests for ensuring strengthening the democratic culture and promotion of democracy at gross root level in the country he added.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain said that it is expected that National Assembly session would be summoned on May 31 and likely budget would be presented on June 5th in the Assembly.
