imagePakistan Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq has disagreed with an idea of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq to try middle-order batsman Azhar Ali as opener instead of inexperienced Sami Aslam during the upcoming Test series against England, in case any of the regular openers Mohammad Hafeez or Shan Masood are occupied for any reason.

According to local media report, Inzamam is of the view that Sami may not be able to face the English conditions with maturity, so it will be better to also keep Azhar Ali as the other option for opener’s slot. As per report, Misbah told Inzamam clearly that if he does not have full confidence over Sami’s abilities as opener, he should not have selected him in the first place. But if he has been selected, the young opener will be given his due role in the England series.

However, Hafeez, whose selection in the Test team for the tour of England, he had already missed the two-week fitness training camp organized by PCB at Kakul. The chief selector Inzamam ul Haq named Hafeez, the veteran of 47 Tests, 177 ODIs and 77 T20s, in the 21-probable players list for a week-long skills camp for the tour of England.

Hafeez, believes that he will completely overcome his fitness problems before the team’s departure to England on June 18.

Pakistan will tour England in June for four Tests, five ODIs and a one Twenty20. The first Test will kick off on July 14.
