Federal Minister for Education, Zubaida Jalal said on Wednesday that disapproved syllabus would not be taught at schools.
Speaking to reporters at the 13th National Scouts Jamboree here at Sports Complex, she agreed that the shortage of books still prevails in the market, yet this was not the responsibility of the ministry of education.
She said the representatives of all the four provinces held a meeting recently, in which they decided to overcome the shortage of textbooks soon.
Zobaida dispelled the impression that the ministry of education had disallowed the new textbooks to be sold in the market.
She said that there was no problem in the syllabus up to class VIII, but a new mechanism will be made for classes IX and X.
However, she said, the new academic session would start from September so the course would not be disrupted.
She said that President Pervez Musharraf loves the scouts very much because he believes the young people hold the future for Pakistan.
"We (the government) shall light up the candles of knowledge and end all kinds of terrorism in the country," she added.
The minister thanked Afghanis-tan, Sri Lanka and India for participating in the jamboree and lauded the efforts of the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association for making the event successful and colourful.
About 5,000 scouts from all over the country are participating in the jamboree.
