Representatives of SITE Association of Industry have expressed their resentment over unjust and unfair policies of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) for their area, adversely affecting their business.
In a meeting with officials of KESC on Monday at SITE Association office, they demanded KESC to adopt a just, equitable and fair system to deal with industrialists of SITE to mitigate their sufferings.
The meeting was held to place complaints of industrialists before KESC management and was to be attended by Managing Director KESC Brigadier Tariq Saddozai but he could not turn up due to his engagements somewhere else.
The meeting discussed wide range of issues pertaining to power supply, responsibility of outdoor meters, removal of meters from site, provision of sub station to area, shifting charges of meter outside consumer's premises.
Besides overloading of distribution system, regularisation of total connected load, disputed cases pending with review committee, use of sub-standard material by KESC etc also came under discussion.
The representatives of industrialists contended that responsibility solely rests with KESC to ensure uninterrupted supply of power to consumers and take appropriate measures to prevent theft of electricity.
Majority of representatives complained that whenever KESC management is approached for any problem, they never paid heed and noted that a large number of cases of industrialists regarding electricity problems are lying pending with KESC for quite a long time.
"KESC should come up with concrete steps to resolve the problems of industrialists of SITE regarding power supply and meters as they contribute a major chunk of revenue to KESC in shape of utility bills," Nisar Shekhani, President SITE Association of Industry stressed.
Colonel Khursheed Anwar, Officer in Charge Billing KESC said that different moves of KESC are basically aimed at ensuring uninterrupted supply of electricity to industrialists of SITE, however he noted that there might also be unwanted results of these efforts.
He assured them that KESC would do its utmost to resolve the problems of industrialists by brining change in their policies.
