The Driving School run by Traffic Police, Rawalpindi, has so far trained 361 male and female candidates besides imparting refresher course to more than 1,700 public transport drivers.
This was stated by Rawalpindi Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Sabir Ahmed while talking to reporters here on Sunday.
"The Traffic School has gained high popularity among masses as it has provided a good lot of drivers by imparting better driving skills and knowledge about the rules and regulations", he said, adding this is an important step for creating a good lot of law-abiding citizens.
He told reporters that in early stage this institute was set up in the office of DSP Traffic, Rawalpindi city, which later on was shifted to another building on Peshawar Road, adding the school will very soon be shifted to a new building suitable for the purpose.
This institute is working completely for the betterment and interest of the masses with sole aim to serve nation by providing good drivers, the SP Traffic said, and added that in 30 days course 12 days have been fixed for theory in order to give proper know-how to candidates about the rules and regulations and importance of following traffic rules. "The curriculum is as per international standards", he said.
Sabir Ahmed said after 18 days training on different vehicles, certificates are being given to the drivers, adding the refresher course is also being arranged for public transport vehicles.
He said three schools were set up in three districts of the Rawalpindi Range, including Rawalpindi, Jhelum and Attock.
