Sindh Government has constituted a committee to look into the causes of delay in the printing of textbooks by Sindh Text Book Board.
To be headed by Iqbal Hussain Durrani, Additional Secretary, Education Department, the committee comprises Professor Mohammed Ilyas Soomro, Additional Director, Education Department and Mohammed Saghir, Senior Instructor, PITE Nawabshah.
The terms of reference for the committee are:
-- to determine the causes of delay in printing of books in context of stipulated time,
-- to ascertain the delay in availability of books in the market,
-- the status of free distribution of text books for class I-V, and,
-- to fix responsibility for lapse/failure on the part of officer/officials of Sindh Text Book Board.
There had been great hue and cry in the Sindh Assembly on the issue of delay in the printing of text books as well as the books for free distribution.
The committee has been assigned two weeks to prepare and submit its report.
