A corruption case has been filed with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the Director General (Grade 20) of Multan Development Authority (MDA), Mumtaz Qureshi, it is reliably learnt here.
According to sources, the MDA Director General was accused of misusing powers, getting recruitment on fake degrees, committing gross financial irregularities and making property beyond his means.
The source revealed that a complainant, a Store Superintendent Muhammad Ehsan Khan in the Water and Sewerage Authority (Wasa), had requested the NAB Chairman for conducting and inquiry into corruption charges through an honest official.
He also cited strong evidences in support of his complaint, and demanded that inquiry be initiated by the intelligence staff of Islamabad.
The complainant also requested the NAB Chairman to save him from threats of dire consequences he was allegedly receiving from an officer of the Intelligence Bureau.
About 23 corruption charges have been levelled against the MDA Director General, the sources said, adding the latest was awarding the Wasa dues recovery on contract to a dummy contractor, Shoukat Rahim, was allegedly introduced by two brothers, Shafat Elahi and Faiz Elahi, but remained in the background.
The complainant further claimed that intelligence reports and telephone links with them would prove every thing, which was not in black and white.
