Indians continued 'their impressive run in the shooting events of the 9th SAP Games by winning four more gold medals on Saturday in men's and women's events, with Indian ladies setting new SAP Games records.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka finished with two silver and one bronze each, followed by Bangladesh two bronze in the day's shooting Events here at the Shooting Range of Pakistan Sports Complex.
In the 2Sn Sports Pistol (women), the Indian team of Shushma Rana (571), Shweta Chaudhry (549) and Saroja Kumari (547) grabbed the gold medal with a combined total of 1669 points, setting a new SAF Games record.
Sri Lankan trio scored 1644 points for their silver medal with KGN Perera (557), WAS Wijesooriya (545) and MRT Abemanna (542), followed by Pakistan team finishing at 1629 points for bronze with Farhat Nasreen (556), Shagufta (541) and Azra (532).
In the individual contest of this shooting category, Sushma Rana from India scored 673 points for her gold medal and set a new SAF Games record.
KGN Perara and Shyamalie Wijesooriya of Sri Lanka secured the silver and bronze medals by scoring 647.5 and 645.2 points, respectively in this event.
Pakistan female shooter, Farhat Nasreen, who was amongst the eight contestants in the final match got 642.2 points, with Saroja Kumari of India (645.1), Ruwini Abemanna of Sri Lanka (644.3), Shweta Chaudhry of India (640.6) and Aishath Zeena Hassan of Maldives (637.6).
In the 50m small bore free rifle prone 60 shots (men), the Indian trio scored a combined total of 1742 points to clinch the gold medal with Satguru Das, Fariduddin and T.C. Plangappa scoring 588, 577 and 577 points each for their team, respectively.
Pakistani team of Waseem, M.A Tahir and Dawood Jan scored 585, 579 and 566 points each for a combined total of 1730 points 'to clinch the silver medal for their country.
MN Shahrear, Anwar-uz-Zaman and MD Shoyeb of Bangladesh netted a total of 1722 points for the bronze medal of the event.
In the individual round of the same category, Satguru Das of India clinched the gold medal by scoring 689.5 points.
Waseem Sajjad of Pakistan scored 687.5 points for his silver medal while Bangladesh's Sharear scored 682.4 points to grab the bronze medal of the event.
The other contesters were Palangappa (India - 680.9), MD Tahir (Pakistan - 679.7), Anwar-uz-Zaman (Bangladesh - 677.6), Chandrasiri (Sri Lanka - 678.5) and Farid-ud-din (India - 676.3).
