An Afghan family living in Islamabad has moved to Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ) against United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for failing to provide them shelter.
Talking to Business Recorder, Abdul Baqi and Parwan Wafa presenting themselves as the key members of former National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan led by Abdul Rashid Dostum said that they had approached the UN Refugee Agency time and again for protection from their enemies but the agency failed to provide security.
They said we had to leave our house and took shelter in remote areas of Punjab for security.
The enemies tried to find us but they failed, Baqi said adding we have informed the UNHCR about the situation but efforts did not bear any fruit.
UNHCR referred us to Islamabad-based NGO-SAACH but it failed to deliver protection, they said.
The Afghan family on behalf of Legal Aid and Human Rights Society filed an application with the ICJ demanding shelter and security to their children.
